Executive Summary: Vaccination is the most critical preventive health measure you can take as
a dog parent in India. Diseases like Canine Parvovirus and Distemper are highly prevalent in our climate and
can be lethal without immunization.
Why Dog Vaccinations Are Crucial in Hyderabad
Hyderabad's warm climate
and high urban canine population create favorable conditions for viral pathogens to survive in soil and public
areas. Core vaccines provide antibodies that prevent high-mortality infections.
Puppy Vaccination Timeline (6 to 16 Weeks)
- 6โ8 Weeks: First Core Vaccine (DHPPiL / Puppydp) for Distemper and Parvovirus.
- 9โ11 Weeks: Booster 7-in-1 or 9-in-1 combo vaccine.
- 12โ14 Weeks: Second Booster combo + Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV).
- 15โ16 Weeks: Kennel Cough (Bordetella) and Corona booster as advised.
Annual Booster Schedule for Adult Dogs
After the primary puppy
series, adult dogs require annual boosters: one multi-component combo (DHPPiL) and one Anti-Rabies vaccine
every 12 months. This maintains life-long protective immunity.
Post-Vaccination Care
Keep your dog calm and
comfortable for 24 hours following their shot. Offer fresh water and light food. Never bathe your puppy for 48
hours after vaccination, and report any facial swelling to our clinic immediately.
